A Conversation with Aimee of A. Dominick Events

As one of the premier event planning firms in the DC area, A. Dominick Events, plans every occasion with style, sophistication, and a passion for your vision. With a degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and a professional chef certificate under her belt, President Aimee Dominick and her fabulous team can do it all! I had the pleasure of chatting with Aimee, and I can tell you that Aimee’s attitude and demeanor will make the entire planning process fun and stress-free…

As event planners are always on the lookout for inspiration to incorporate into their clients’ visions, in what places have you lately found new and fresh ideas?

I find inspiration everywhere, from fashion magazines to restaurants but travel tends to really get me going. I learned about marking the guest’s menu choice with either the fish knife or steak knife in France and was inspired to play with the color yellow after doing a site visit at the Parker Palm Springs in California.

Tell us about one of the events you are currently planning, from the overall vision of the event down to the intimate details.

We have about 20 projects in the works right now, but the next wedding to take place is always the most clearly formed. Our April 10th project in Charlottesville is going to be a real stunner! From a palette with subdued greys and pink with a punch of vibrant green to the most beautifully draped clear-top tent, I cannot wait to see the photos!

What are the three most important traits that you believe someone in your business should possess?

In my opinion, they are:

1. Having an open and creative mind

2. Possessing strong organizational skills

3. The ability to form and lead a team.

How does A. Dominick set itself apart from other event planning companies?

It is hard to say what other people do.  We simply strive to exceed our client’s expectations every day.

What do you love most about your job?

I love meeting brides and hearing about their vision for the big day.  It never gets old seeing how excited a new bride is!

Thank you so much Aimee, and we hope to see some photos of your beautiful Charlottesville wedding!
