Today, we have a fabulous update from DW Bride Blogger, Sarah Christine. Choosing bridesmaid dresses is often a challenge. With so many fabulous designers debuting gorgeous bridesmaid lines, the choices can be overwhelming. Sarah Christine is stopping in to tell us how she navigated this part of wedding planning with the girls who mean the most to her…
From Sarah…
Finding my dress was a piece of cake compared to finding my bridesmaid’s dresses. A little background, I have two maid-of-honors, four bridesmaids, one junior bridesmaid and three flower girls. The group consists of four cousins, three best friends, my twin nieces and god-daughter. Wow! That was a mouth full. I love every single one of my girls and they have been such an amazing support system.
I’m a firm believer of feeling like gold in a bridesmaids dress. As someone who has been in one four times, I can attest to some of the frocks I’ve worn. I was determined to make my girls feel as comfortable as possible, while keeping the dresses reasonable in price.
From the start, I knew that I wanted a dress that flowed and that came in a deep chocolate brown. After trying on tens and tens of dresses, the group finally came to a decision, which just happened to be my first choice – they choose dresses from Thread. Thread is a small designer based out of New York City and provides flowing dresses that are comfortable and extremely flattering for all figure types.
Realizing that not every girl is built the same way, I chose four silhouettes and each lady got to choose which one they liked the most and felt most comfortable in. While the silhouettes are similar, each one looked so different in each one of them. So far, the bridesmaids have chosen dresses numbers one and two and my junior bridesmaid will be in dress number three with straps.
Now on to shoes! I think it would be fun to let each girl to choose there own and really let their style shine through. Bring on polka-dots, stripes, high heels and flats of all kinds. I await the arrival of the dresses in late June – a think a brunch will be in order for that happy occasion. I can’t thank my beautiful ladies enough for trying on so many dresses and being so supportive in my final decisions.
A BIG thanks to Sarah for sharing her experience with us! I LOVE her bridesmaids’ selections.
