An Update from Sarah Christine…Finding the Dress!

Today, Sarah Christine is stopping by to give us a planning update.  So far we’ve heard about her welcome bag finds, her gift registry ideas, and today, it’s all about the dress!

From Sarah…

I think I might have skipped some of the important details – like my dress! Some experts say that once you find your dream dress, all of the other details (themes, colors, type of venue you choose) all fall in line. In my case, this was true.

I have been with my fiancé for almost five years and in “girl years,” that means I started thinking about my gown way before he even proposed to me. I found my dream dress flipping through the pages of a bridal magazine one day in 2007 – it was from the new Carolina Herrera line. This meant two things: one, I knew I would have to start saving for that dress immediately and two, I had to prepare myself for the worst. I had to come to the realization that while the dress looked amazing in the catalog, it may not look good on me.

Over a year later, I found myself along with my mom and maid-of-honor trying on that dress. To be honest, it was not the first dress I tried on. I decided that you only get to shop for wedding gowns once, so I was going to have some fun. I must have tried on over 40 gowns over the course of four months before I tried on my dream dress. Many of the dresses I tried on were gorgeous – Priscilla of Boston, Pronovias, Vera Wang and so many more — I would have been happy with any of them .

As the time came to try it on, I closed my eyes, stepped into it, walked out with assistance and opened them up in front of the large mirror. I felt like my heart skipped a beat and I saw a tear in my eye, as well as my maid-of-honor. This dress was the one! Since that day, everything else has fallen into place.

Due to the fact that I have an amazing fiancée that reads my posts, I cannot post the actual dress, but I can say it’s a romantic ball-gown made from a combination of taffeta and organza. I look forward to the day when I can share it with you all!

Thanks for stopping in, Sarah!  We LOVE hearing your updates!

I can’t wait to see the dress!! I have yet to try on the dress that I saved in My Pictures folder and gaze at at least once a day. Congrats on finding yours!
