If you are stopping by this blog for the first time, let me introduce you to Sarah Christine. Sarah is planning an October DC wedding while working in New York and living in New Jersey. Each week she updates us on her planning, her new discoveries, and her latest ideas.
Before we get to Sarah’s weekly update, I want to make sure you know about the Bloomingdale’s Get Married event. It will be a fabulous party — and it’s free to attend! If you are getting married (or even if you aren’t yet engaged but just love weddings), you can’t miss this oh-so-fun event – this Thursday evening. When you come, be sure to find us and say hi — District Weddings will have a table where we’ll be giving out delicious raspberry buttercream lip balms. So come on by!
Now, here’s Sarah…
We pay thousands for photographers to capture unforgettable wedding moments, but what about all of those great photos your guests are taking? The photographer can only be in so many places at once. The ratio of guests with cameras to the photographer is easily outweighed these days. And in the age of digital cameras, the number of brides putting the disposable cameras on the tables is dwindling.
Though, trying to encourage guests to either burn a CD with those images or email them is like pulling teeth. A post on Inspired Goodness last October from Brooke and Nick’s wedding gave way to a simple idea…

Using Flickr, Brooke and Nick set up a personal account and gave all their guests access to it to upload their photos. A small card with the account information was printed out and put into their welcome bags — painless and brilliant!
I can admit that I will be stealing this idea in hopes of gaining some great images to put together for a coffee table book. There will be plenty of formal portraits; it’s always the candid shots that capture the unforgettable moments!
