I love Punk Rock Bride because it is D.C. based and unique!  Designer Stephanie Ward takes a specialized approach to design by incorporating non-traditional fabrics and mixing multiple layers to add texture and depth to every design. While maintaining very simple, classic silhouettes to flatter every figure, with a focus on the details, Punk Rock Bride gives brides a comfortable, unique option for their wedding day. Tell us a little bit about Love Couture Bridal.  What makes it a unique place for brides to shop?

Love Couture Bridal offers over 13 different wedding gown designers that range for subtle and simple to head turning show stoppers.  Our new showroom offers an elegant and modern space that makes you feel like you have stepped away from all of the wedding planning stress and can calmly focus on the most important  garment you will purchase, your wedding gown.

We pride ourselves on our special one on one service, lengthy appointment times and being able to service the bride and her wedding party with everything from accessory’s to alterations.

What trends do you predict for both brides and bridesmaids in the upcoming season?

I have been noticing a trend towards lace combined with very soft fabrics like silk tulle and chiffon.  Belts and textured skirts are still very important.   For bridesmaids I am loving the new print fabrics that the designers are providing. It is such a fun way to make the made of hour’s gown a bit more special.

What is one piece of advice you can offer to brides about to begin the dress search?

Trust your personal style but do not be afraid to experiment.  Make sure your gown is made of quality fabrics and that it offers an exceptional fit. Fit is everything!

Do you have any style tips for the mother of the bride and the mother of the groom for the big night?

Mother’s of the wedding should not feel cornered into wearing a certain color. I believe that they should select a color that is flattering to them while complimenting the wedding hues.

What advice do you have for brides when choosing a makeup look for the big day?

I usually advise brides to choose a look that makes them feel special and beautiful.  Once they have an idea for their wedding day look, I can customize that look to best match their facial features.  I also discuss and provide recommendations based on other factors such as the time of year, location, time of the wedding, and wedding theme or style.  All these should be considered when determining the bridal makeup look.

What make up looks best in photos?

For wedding photos, a mix of natural and glamorous makeup looks is one of the best choices.  My signature classic yet modern makeup styles offer more versatility when creating an individual, customized look.  Overall, a great wedding makeup look should be a timeless style for wedding picture keepsakes.

What looks best in person?

The best makeup look to wear in person are those that are well blended and well finished so that it will stay intact for several hours.  Some radiance on the skin adds a fresh and healthy glow, highlight effects on the eyes and sculpted eyebrows refines the eye makeup look.

For a sultry look choosing sheer bronze earthy tone eyeshadows with a mix of grayish semi matte finish adds intensity and glamour.  Red lips creates a very luscious look and naked lips with lipgloss are always amazing. People notice your face first so it is important to make it appeared effortless and perfectly done.

What make up trends are you most excited about for the upcoming season?

For the upcoming season, I am excited about my blend makeup technique by using airbrush makeup in addition to the traditional makeup application.  It helps keep the makeup intact for a longer time with a light, even coverage.  It provides the best makeup finish for a live event, high resolution photography and high definition videography.  The latest beauty trends right now are the return of the porcelain skin look, contouring effects for a natural blush look, fresh face makeup and sheer finish lipstick rather than opaque for the “wine-stained lips” look trend.

Where do you get your inspiration or ideas for new looks?

My ideas for new looks are ongoing and come from all around – the change of season, colors in nature, and the latest trends in designer fashions. For instance, I have been using a dewy and fresh makeup finish recently, as the season changes and we lose humidity, we have to create visual effects with creme makeup foundations and liquid blushes for the right texture .

I rely on the latest makeup products but my inspiration comes from simply listening to the client.  From each new bride I learn and am inspired to bring out the best of their personal beauty styles.
