Groomsmen Roundup

Today, we are giving the guys a little attention…because every once in a while, we want to remember that is is their day, too!

First up, I adore these Smathers & Branson100% hand stitched needlepoint items.

Co-owner, Peter Carter, is currently engaged and planning his 2011 wedding so we thought we would ask him what he is considering for his own big day… A few of his favorites include the Nautical Flag Monogrammed Cummerbund (each groomsmen’s cummerbund has his initials in nautical flags so they are all a little different); personalization of one of the S & B stock patterns and with the wedding date embroidered into the belt (rather than a fully custom design); the belt that Austin Branson (S & B Founder and Co-owner) gave his groomsmen for his 2008 wedding.

A monogrammed flask or wallet is another way to go…and, a little less expensive…

Next up, I cannot stop thinking about these awesome pewter animal shot glasses by Goody Grams. Why not give each guy a glass with a bottle of his favorite liquor? Cheers!

Finally, who wouldn’t love a new pair of J. Crew socks (can you ever have too many?) with a hip pair of Chuck Taylors? Now that would make for a cute picture.

Happy shopping!

What to Wear: Best Dressed Men III

You may have seen the incredible selection of bridesmaid dresses available at J.Crew, but did you know they also offer a wide range of groomsman attire?  While I prefer to focus on smaller D.C. boutiques over large retailers, J.Crew’s wedding line for groomsmen is just too good to overlook!

Everyone’s Talking About Saima Says Design!  I am so excited I can hardly wait — Next Tuesday, we will be debuting her brand-new exclusive ready-to-order Signature Wedding Collection.  Every day until then I’ll be featuring a sneak peak of her latest line.  These invitations are not only incredibly charming and lovely to touch, they are also extraordinarily affordable.  Be sure to check in next Tuesday to see Saima’s newest collection!

What to Wear: Best Dressed Men II

Our next look is one that is becoming increasingly more popular, especially after it was seen on “Today Throws a Martha Stewart Wedding.”  Instead of asking your groomsmen (or technically, your groom’s groomsmen) to rent a tux or suit, many couples are requesting that groomsmen wear their own gray suits, in any shade of gray.  The result — a beautiful blend of varying shades of gray, at no additional cost to you or your groomsmen.

If one of your ‘men is in need of a gray suit, they are available for purchase at Bethesda Custom Tailors, located at 7900 Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda, MD.

What to Wear: Best Dressed Men

Okay, I can’t say that I didn’t enjoy getting ready for today’s posts.  With all of the styles available for groomsmen, couples finally have options other than the classic black tux.  And while the classic tux is still the most popular selection, today we’ll be focusing on alternative attire for the fashionable groomsman.

First, we have the khakis and navy blue blazer look.  I’ll call it “snappy casual.”  This look isn’t as formal as a suit or tux, but it also isn’t as casual as linen pants and shirt sans jacket.

Based in New England, Vineyard Vines sets the standard for the snappy casual groomsman.  Take a look…

How adorable are they?!?  If you are having a poolside, beachfront, or garden wedding, I would especially encourage you to consider the snappy casual look.  Chances are, most of your groomsmen already own khakis and a navy blazer.  Just give them their ties as attendants’ gifts and they’ll look just as cute and coordinated as ever!

The Vineyard Vines collection is available online, as well as at their new Georgetown store, located at 1225 Wisconsin Avenue, NW.
