Bridal Showers

Showers & Parties- What is OKAY…

August 29, 2016

As you all know, during the wedding planning process, there is more than just one big event. Several small events greet you along the way, like your bridal shower, bachelor/bachelorette party and more! We tried to break it down for you….

  1. Who hosts the bridal shower? Anyone from the bridesmaids to the mother of the bride to the mother of the groom can host a bridal shower. In any case, the hostess should consult with the bride about the guest list, because shower guests should also be invited to the wedding. *Keep in mind, that it is nice for the mothers to host this event, since it can become costly for your bridal party.
  2. Can you dictate what type of shower you would like? It’s a good idea to discuss the shower with bridesmaids—or whoever is hosting—but avoid demands, especially those that dictate the budget.
  3. Do you need to play games at a shower? No way! You can get creative with showers, everything from cooking classes to mixology classes to just a nice cocktail party.
  4. Do you have to open gifts at a shower? Totally up to you and the host! Sometimes it can be painful and embarrassing, not the mention long. You aren’t doing anything wrong if you skip this portion of the event.
  5. Who hosts the bachelor/bachelorette party? Normally the best man/maid of honor will put the plans together for the fun weekend! Lots of brides and grooms like to include other girlfriends invited to the wedding, so be sure to get that list from the bride and groom.
  6. Do you have to go away for your bachelor/bachelorette party? It is always smart to cater to your audience. Although, you might want a trip, not all your friends might be able to afford it! Be thoughtful and smart. The most important thing is that your surrounded with people who want to celebrate you! View More: http://rianerobertsphotography.pass.us/gardenbridalshowersubmission

An Enchanting Event – Real Wedding of J + E

July 14, 2015

With the mountains in the background and colorful flowers in full bloom, Jenny and Eoin tied the knot. Charlottesville, Virginia, held a beautiful wedding, as a long-distance couple finally was able to be together in the same country.

Jenny and Eoin met in London and were engaged in Paris, which is why vintage postcards were set up all around their wedding day. They both studied in the UK for their Masters programs, but Jenny had to leave Europe before Eoin did. Finally, nine months later, the couple was together again, and this time for good.

The wedding details had a lot to do with the homes of both Jenny and Eoin, which are Ireland for Eoin and Virginia for Jenny. Jenny made a lot of her decor, such as the programs, menus, favor cards, etc. For their favors, they donated to two charities that were close to them: The Lost Dog and Cat Foundation and American Rivers.

It was a lovely day, filled with perfect weather and a perfect couple. Congratulations Jenny and Eoin!

An All-American Duo: Real Wedding of T + C

July 3, 2015

It is Independence Day weekend, and we have a wedding to share with you that perfectly celebrates the holiday!

Tanya and Clay knew that America had to be the theme of their wedding – after all, they met as they both worked on Capitol Hill and were engaged on the Speakers’ Balcony at the Capitol! The couple had family and friends from Utah and Colorado travel to D.C. to see the sights of the nation’s capital, which was a highlight of the wedding.

The couple’s save the dates looked like campaign flyers with candidate buttons, and their welcome bags were even complete with mini pocket constitutions and chocolate Capitol Domes! Talk about the most perfect American-themed wedding. Each of their table names at the reception were places in D.C. that were important to them. One table name was “The Jefferson Monument Table”, which represented where Clay first said “I love you” to Tanya. Another table name was “The Capitol Table”, which is where the couple met and Tanya said “yes!” On their exit from the wedding, their guests were given different-sized American flags to wave around.

Tanya commented on a favorite memory, “The favors we gave out were little jars of homemade raspberry jam. My Dad is famous for making jam out of the raspberries he grows in his garden in Colorado, so a few months before the wedding my Dad taught me and my bridesmaids his secret recipe and we made all the jam together!”

Another one of Tanya’s favorite memories to date is dancing with her father to “My Girl” at her wedding. The day was filled with special moments that celebrated the couple’s love for each other and the pride they have in America!

Perfect Pair, Perfect Place – Real Wedding of K + R

June 24, 2015

Have you ever had a place that means so much to you because of the special moments and memories you have there? For Kelly and Reed, Georgetown is this place; it is a representation of memories and love from the moment they met. Georgetown is not only the place they met, but also the place where Reed proposed, and finally, the place they spent their perfect wedding day.

After attending school at Georgetown University, they both attended graduate school in upstate New York. Yet, they knew that Georgetown was the place where their fondest memories remained, and they planned their wedding to be there.

Kelly comments on the location, “My favorite moment of the day was walking through the doors of the chapel into a place that meant so much to me and seeing all of the people we love from all phases in our lives in one room – an incredible feeling! – and especially seeing Reed at the other end.”

Their ceremony was at Dahlgren Chapel on Georgetown’s campus, and their reception was at the Colonnade Room at the Fairmont Hotel. “At the end of the night, we had buses to take everyone to The Tombs (a staple of our college experience) to continue the festivities. It was truly our perfect day,” Kelly said.

A Stylish Shoot

June 4, 2015

Style. It is a word that most of you have heard lately on the radio as Taylor Swift sings, “We never go out of style!” and you roll your windows down and sing along. The word epitomizes the way you make yourself appear to others, and sometimes it is nice to have a stylist to help you have a more focused look.

The shoot that is brought to you today was styled to show the type of outfit that would be appropriate and classy to wear to a bridal shower. DW chatted with Katie Mentus from Style Wonk, one of the stylists of the shoot, and she gave us some insight into the design that went into the bridal shower look.

What was the style of the bridal shower look?
KM: “For the bridal shower outfit, we styled a fun, feminine look. The neon coral Trina Turk printed dress makes the classic silhouette of the dress more modern. Rose gold jewelry from Hanuel added the perfect pink accent. We kept the shoe classic with a patent nude Michael Kors pump.”

Tell us more about the inspiration behind the makeup and hair.
KM: “For the bridal shower makeup, we created a simple and fresh makeup look with natural eyes using the Naked Basic palette and false lashes by Eyelure Naturales in No. 020. We also used a pretty in pink shade of lipstick in petal by Beautycouter. The lip color added a light subtle pop of pink that is perfect for dressing up a daytime look for a special event.”

3UQDGATgMcb9PREgnd7ohBGWrspZnioOBgFo1TMzgjQ

“For the bridal shower hair, we created smooth and soft waves using and a curling iron. We swept it to the side with a subtle side part and tucked the other side behind the ears. We wanted to keep the makeup and hair easy and accessible for all bridal shower guests.”

This stylish look does a great job of displaying how to dress for a day of celebrating your friend and preparing for one of the biggest days of her life!
