Fall 2012 DVF Home Collection

We love these beautiful pieces from Diane von Furstenberg’s Fall 2012 home collection. From unique vases to stunning flatware, each piece is both timeless and interesting. They’re perfect for a wedding registry or even a chic dinner party!

The DVF Fall collection is available at Bloomingdales.

Bloomingdale’s

After getting engaged, it is so fun to daydream about creating a home of your own with your fiance.  As my friend recently put it, a registry expands your “grown up” collections of homegoods.

So, making sure that you end up with items you’ll actually use is vital.  Joanna Kartalis, Director of The Registry at Bloomingdale’s, is here to help by sharing some of her must haves and things to keep in mind before you begin:

How should a couple first approach their registry? Where do they start and what should they consider?

When planning your registry, it’s best to really think about how you live and how you plan to entertain. You’ll want to fill your home with pieces that are an expression of your own style, just like building your wardrobe!

You also want housewares and serving pieces that you’ll actually use – whether it’s a night in for the two of you, a wine & cheese party, a Super Bowl party, or a holiday with your in-laws.  Don’t forget to partner with your registry consultant, as they are experts in putting together your perfect home. Along with shopping in the store, I also recommend to shop online – as here it’s easy to see customer reviews, as well as recommendations of what other couples loved to get you started!

What are some of the most popular items to register for?

Some popular items include – All-Clad stainless steel cookware, Cuisinart food processor, Juliska dinnerware, KitchenAid Stand Mixer, Le Creuset cast iron cookware, Riedel wine glasses, Ralph Lauren towels, Tumi luggage. Other popular items include candlesticks, frames, and vases.

What is a new item that you have noticed on couple’s registries?

Abyss towels – the range of colors are exciting and a must-have for couples!

Is there one particular item that should always be on a couple’s list?

I recommend two must-haves, a KitchenAid Stand Mixer and an All Clad Slowcooker. Both will change the way you cook, and perhaps have you cooking more often!

Bride Blogger Update: Gift Registry!

Good Morning and Happy Wednesday!  I am sending out my apologies as we are one day off schedule but today we are hearing from Bride Blogger Marybeth…and it just makes me wish I could go register for all these fun goods!

With our move to San Diego quickly approaching, James and I have been packing and trying to complete as many items on our wedding to-do list as possible.  Our wedding planner suggested we set up our registry prior to the big move.

During one of our first meetings with our planner, she gave us tips on registering and included a registry checklist.   One great tip she gave us was to register at no more than three stores.   Limiting the registry to three stores would be easier on us and our guests.  Here are a few more of her tips:

Pottery Barn and Williams-Sonoma store credits are interchangeable.

Bed Bath & Beyond gives cash back for returned items.

Bloomingdales is the most registry friendly department store with the best selection.

• Look into the registry completion options at stores – many offer discounts if you purchase any remaining items on you registry.

Green Wedding Gift Shop & Registry

One of the best parts of my job (yes, I know there are many!) is meeting all of the fabulous vendors and behind the scenes wedding experts in the industry. A little while ago, I got to meet Kate Harrison, the founder of the Green Bride Guide, a site full of eco-friendly wedding ideas, products and services. Let me tell you something – this is one of those times when I thought, why didn’t I think of this idea – its genius!

The Green Bride Guide registry provides detailed information about each product, including how it is made, where it is made, and what materials were used in its production. With this information at your fingertips, you can make an informed decision so that the products you want are truly eco-friendly.
