Lauren and Matt’s Meridian House Winter Wedding

January 24, 2018

Flawless Winter Wedding

Lauren and Matt’s Meridian House winter wedding was held on a perfectly crisp January day with soft light and warm joy that spread from beginning to end. From the stunning ivory and taupe stationery suite to the ivory and green florals, the elegant tone was set for their guests who traveled from near and far to spend the day celebrating this sweet couple.

Location, Location, Location

The excitement begin at the Willard Hotel; carried over to Union Station for portraits; and later with the wedding festivities at the incredible Meridian House, a former Ambassador’s home constructed in the 1920s. Each room of the Meridian House is full of character and history. Notice the intricate French paintings and antique oriental porcelain adorning the space. Dinner was held in the library room and dining rooms, where heartfelt toasts preceded an amazing first dance in the ballroom.

Warm and Romantic Affair

March 9, 2017

This stylish NYC based couple Becky & Harry planned a warm wedding filled to the brim with elegance at the glamorous venue, The Fairmont, which is surrounded by all the breathtaking architecture Washington D.C. has to offer. Becky is a Bethesda native and Harry is a southern-born Doctor. The two met at a bar in NYC and instantly became the perfect couple.Their elegant Spring wedding included a color palette of peach, navy, white, silver and rose gold accents.
Becky wore an off the shoulder lace sheath dress by Lela Rose and fashion forward Jimmy Choo heels. Her bridesmaids selected any navy chiffon dress of their desire from Jenny Yoo. Harry wore a classic navy suit, and opted for a succulent boutonniere. They served classic Manhattan’s as a specialty cocktail and had a friend create the cutest signage to personalize their event and tie in their beloved fur-baby.
The huge crowd pleaser at this wedding was the excellently executed chuppah decor. With light and airy drapery that paired beautifully with hanging peach, green, and white blooms. Rose gold and peach accents on the table cards were a perfect compliment to the white linens and silver chargers. They incorporated three types of centerpieces, low and lush, tall arrangements and tables that were set with candles and rose petals. All worked together to create a warm romantic glow throughout the room. For dessert, the infamous and impossibly delicious cupcakes from Baked and Wired were served.

Organic Wedding with an International Touch

November 30, 2016

Kate and Andrew met in Washington, D.C. in 2013 and were immediately drawn to each other. They dated long distance for two years, before moving in together in New York City. Andrew proposed to Kate while on vacation in Capri, Italy and they began their search for a unique wedding venue that would be the perfect fit for the joining of their large Catholic and Jewish families. Both lovers of art, they were drawn to the Arts Club in Washington, and it was the perfect location for their special day, as Kate is also an art therapist. After their spring engagement session in Central Park, we couldn’t wait for their summer wedding! They shared a first look at the Tudor Gardens before heading to the Arts Club to say I Do. They were married by Andrew’s aunts, and included many family heirlooms and both Jewish and Italian wedding traditions throughout the day. Kate and Andrew had been learning a special tango to surprise their wedding guests with, and when we heard about this at their engagement shoot, we had been anticipating this big reveal for months- all their hard work really paid off!

Elegant Wedding at The Westin Georgetown

September 21, 2016

The story behind this soft and elegant wedding is the reason we keep falling in love with weddings. The bride and groom, both avid travelers, met in the Netherlands and lived there for the first five years of their relationship. Needless to say, incorporating an international theme throughout the reception gave the wedding a very personal touch. Their passion for traveling is something that connected them since the very beginning. Reception tables were named after cities the couple had visited and the food and cocktails were also inspired by this– Dutch Bitterballen were passed around during cocktail hour as hors d’oeuvres.
“Our wedding was special for so many reasons. Our wedding was the first time we had both of our families and our closest friends from around the world together in one room. After we exchanged our vows, we took a moment to look around the room at all of the people that had traveled near and far to celebrate with us on our day, it was just an unbelievable feeling. If I had to choose just one moment, I’d have to say it was the father-daughter dance. My dad has advanced Alzheimer’s disease and up until that day, we weren’t sure whether he was going to be able to attend, walk me down the aisle, and much less participate in a father-daughter dance. When the moment came, my dad didn’t want to get on the dance floor, the crowd was overwhelming and he wouldn’t budge. After a few moments, I walked down to where he was sitting and we did the dance right there. He slowly swayed back and forth as I sang to him and held his hand. It’s a moment I will remember for the rest of my life”.

When asked to describe the wedding in one word the bride said “love” and we couldn’t agree more!

Meredith and Nick’s Pippin Hill Wedding

August 10, 2016

Meredith & Nick tied the knot at Pippin Hill on a gorgeous Sunday in September.  Pippin Hill is one of the top venues in the nation and being just a short drive from Washington, DC (where the couple resides) Charlottesville, VA. It was the perfect place for Meredith & Nick to bring their guests for a fun weekend getaway celebration.     Bride Meredith incorporated the pattern of the lace from her mother’s wedding gown into the invitation suite.  The blind letterpress technique was subtle yet provided high impact. This design was also incorporated into the table numbers, menus, and programs.  Apples and Peaches were incorporated into the design as a small nod to each of the couples home states (Nick from New York and Meredith from Georgia.)
