Organic Wedding with an International Touch

November 30, 2016

Kate and Andrew met in Washington, D.C. in 2013 and were immediately drawn to each other. They dated long distance for two years, before moving in together in New York City. Andrew proposed to Kate while on vacation in Capri, Italy and they began their search for a unique wedding venue that would be the perfect fit for the joining of their large Catholic and Jewish families. Both lovers of art, they were drawn to the Arts Club in Washington, and it was the perfect location for their special day, as Kate is also an art therapist. After their spring engagement session in Central Park, we couldn’t wait for their summer wedding! They shared a first look at the Tudor Gardens before heading to the Arts Club to say I Do. They were married by Andrew’s aunts, and included many family heirlooms and both Jewish and Italian wedding traditions throughout the day. Kate and Andrew had been learning a special tango to surprise their wedding guests with, and when we heard about this at their engagement shoot, we had been anticipating this big reveal for months- all their hard work really paid off!

Elegant Wedding at The Westin Georgetown

September 21, 2016

The story behind this soft and elegant wedding is the reason we keep falling in love with weddings. The bride and groom, both avid travelers, met in the Netherlands and lived there for the first five years of their relationship. Needless to say, incorporating an international theme throughout the reception gave the wedding a very personal touch. Their passion for traveling is something that connected them since the very beginning. Reception tables were named after cities the couple had visited and the food and cocktails were also inspired by this– Dutch Bitterballen were passed around during cocktail hour as hors d’oeuvres.
“Our wedding was special for so many reasons. Our wedding was the first time we had both of our families and our closest friends from around the world together in one room. After we exchanged our vows, we took a moment to look around the room at all of the people that had traveled near and far to celebrate with us on our day, it was just an unbelievable feeling. If I had to choose just one moment, I’d have to say it was the father-daughter dance. My dad has advanced Alzheimer’s disease and up until that day, we weren’t sure whether he was going to be able to attend, walk me down the aisle, and much less participate in a father-daughter dance. When the moment came, my dad didn’t want to get on the dance floor, the crowd was overwhelming and he wouldn’t budge. After a few moments, I walked down to where he was sitting and we did the dance right there. He slowly swayed back and forth as I sang to him and held his hand. It’s a moment I will remember for the rest of my life”.

When asked to describe the wedding in one word the bride said “love” and we couldn’t agree more!

Meredith and Nick’s Pippin Hill Wedding

August 10, 2016

Meredith & Nick tied the knot at Pippin Hill on a gorgeous Sunday in September.  Pippin Hill is one of the top venues in the nation and being just a short drive from Washington, DC (where the couple resides) Charlottesville, VA. It was the perfect place for Meredith & Nick to bring their guests for a fun weekend getaway celebration.     Bride Meredith incorporated the pattern of the lace from her mother’s wedding gown into the invitation suite.  The blind letterpress technique was subtle yet provided high impact. This design was also incorporated into the table numbers, menus, and programs.  Apples and Peaches were incorporated into the design as a small nod to each of the couples home states (Nick from New York and Meredith from Georgia.)

Orange Crush – Real Wedding of L+B

October 7, 2015

College sweethearts, Lesley and Brian met at Syracuse University when they became friends working at the student newspaper, the Daily Orange.  One night in February 2007, after a massive snowstorm, Brian asked Lesley out on their first date and soon after the two became inseparable.  As avid Syracuse sports fans, Brian proposed to Lesley while in Syracuse for a basketball game against Georgetown University, the actual proposal happened in the Daily Orange office where they first met!

Their gorgeous Fall wedding was held at The Whittemore House in Washington, DC.  During their ceremony, which was officiated by a close friend, their love story was retold. Lesley and Brian’s orange, gray and white wedding combined lush dahlias, an abundance of local pumpkins and meaningful moments throughout the day.  The highlight was a surprise visit from the official mascot of Syracuse University, Otto the Orange!

Love at First Sight – Real Wedding of A + R

September 16, 2015

Amanda really wanted a romantic destination wedding, so she incorporated poplin swag, hanging lanterns, rifle paper table numbers with each country they had visited, postcard escort cards and amazing floral garlands. Their love for traveling, was truly evident as they decided to incorporate as many traveling memories and fun details into their big day.

In November 2008, Amanda and Rob met at a crowded bus station in the middle of Istanbul. They were both en route to an expat Thanksgiving gathering with mutual friends. Rob had only just moved to the city from North Africa a few days earlier, but he knew from the moment he saw her maroon galoshes that he was smitten. The years that followed saw them enjoy some of the best parts of expatriate life, as they traveled across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.

In June 2013, Rob proposed to Amanda alongside the Bosphorus. Later that summer, they moved to Washington, D.C. where Amanda began her nursing career, and where they found themselves beginning a very different adventure: adjusting to life in their native country, after a combined decade of life abroad.

Before they knew it, they were tying the knot + celebrating from friends and family from all around the world!
