Julie and Jon’s Real Wedding

May 24, 2017

“The anticipation leading up to seeing Jonathan at the end of the aisle, and then finally seeing him, was wonderful. I think we were both smiling so widely as I walked down the aisle.  Aside from the ceremony itself, one of my favorite moments that I’ll always cherish was when Jonathan and I ducked away during our cocktail hour at the Women’s Museum  and took in a bird’s eye of view the scene below — the feeling of having every single one of our friends and family in one place and enjoying each other’s company was completely overwhelming in a really touching way.”

I wore several things on my wedding day that were so very meaningful. First, Jonathan’s three brothers and his dad gave me a special gift at our rehearsal dinner.  It is a silver cuff bracelet that is worn by each member of the family in memory of Jonathan’s mom, Karen, who passed away in 2002.  The cuff, which bears Karen’s initials on the inside, is a touching way to honor her memory, and signifies the unity and closeness of the family. Fall in love with this romantic soirée.

Up Up and Away – Real Wedding of Jeff and Bernadette

March 1, 2017

Jeff told her that they were meeting someone here at 6:00am. Bernadette began to ask if every person that pulled into the Dunkin Donuts was the person they were waiting for. Finally a big truck with a basket in the back of it pulled in and Jeff said “they are here!” There was a big hot air balloon on the side of the truck and Bernadette asked “Are we going on a hot air balloon ride?!” Jeff smiled and said “Yes!”

They rode over to the launch site where they got to help set up the balloon. Unfolding it and holding the sides open as two large fans filled it with air. Jeff helped tip the basket over as the balloon pilot lit the fire. As the balloon filled they hopped in and quickly started to rise off the ground. The balloon quickly rose up above the trees, cows, and farmland below. As the sun rose above the mountains they could see the morning fog still hanging above the trees to the North. It was a breathtaking! Ten minutes into the flight Jeff handed his phone to the pilot and asked if he would take a picture of them. He got down on one knee and asked Bernadette to marry him! She was overjoyed and said “Yes, of course!” They spent the rest of the hour flight filled with joy as they took in the beautiful view and the peaceful moment they had alone.

Then came their amazing wedding day, a little rain the first half of the day just couldn’t stop the momentum of these two love birds! A DW favorite was this… “She was handed a  gift, a shoe box, she looked a bit confused until she opened it…and there it was…EVERYTHING.  Jeff had saved every receipt, game ticket, trinket…their entire dating history.” He knew from the beginning that she was the one.”

The reception and details didn’t go unnoticed. We loved the blush pink detailing throughout the entire design.

The incredible reception was full of fun, family, friends and laughter and the LED balloon sendoff was the perfect way to end the evening…just as their engagement began, with bright balloons.

Hay Adams Wedding of Evan and Katie

August 24, 2016

After a dazzling proposal under the 4th of July lit sky, Evan and Katie were married at the Top of the Hay at the Hay Adams Hotel on October 4th, 2015. The two met by chance at the dog park and were introduced by their ‘fur babies’, Gus and Harley. Their big day was one that will never be forgotten. Having lost her mother at a young age, it was very important to Katie to weave in her mother’s vibrant spirit into as many aspects of the wedding as possible. She was the inspiration behind a lot of the beautiful moments that everyone experienced that day. The venue choice was easy as the couple wanted to be married somewhere patriotic. Evan is an American hero, having served in Iraq in Korea and is currently enlisted in the US Army at The Pentagon. Katie is a South Carolina native, so there is a lot of Charleston influence on the food, flowers, and décor. Since the two met in Washington DC, The Hay Adams was the perfect choice.

After being escorted up the aisle by her Dad to Here Comes the Sun played by an acoustic trio led by Phil Kominski and his wife, Katie and Evan were married overlooking the White House by their best friend. The altar held two colorful flower pieces, and Katie’s late grandmother’s prayer book that was carried by her on her wedding day in the 1940’s.

The Top of the Hay was then transformed into a vibrant wonderland with gorgeous freshly picked garden inspired flower arrangements. Each dinner plate was adorned with a Camellia leaf from the bride’s father’s award winning South Carolina garden. After a tear-jerking toast by the father of the bride, the guests enjoyed Pierogis, a tilt to the bride and groom’s Polish heritage, and then delicious Southern fried chicken followed by a cake that looked too beautiful to eat. The signature champagne cocktail was named, ‘Mama Bott’s Bubbles’ after the Bride’s mom.

Then it was time for the Lloyd Dobler Effect to make some noise. The couple had their first dance to Van Morrison’s, Crazy Love. Guests boogied all night long to the live band playing everything from Phil Collins to Snoop Dog while enjoying Moscow Mules from the hockey inspired ice luge (a gift from the bride to the groom). Family and friends enjoyed photo opps with the magnificent back drop of the White House. The night was truly filled with the most magnificent energy, love. Everything was absolutely perfect.

Assigned Love – Real Wedding of C+A

February 24, 2016

Can you imagine meeting your forever in law school, on the first day? Well this lucky couple had assigned seats next to each other starting with their first class of the day in law school…you could say, the rest was history, but first:

What was the bride’s first impression? “Nice voice, well-dressed. Why is he always late to class?”

What was the groom’s first impression? “Beautiful smile, and very attentive in class.”

…then the rest was history, after their first official date at Square restaurant in Harvard Square in Cambridge, MA

6 years later, they were engaged!

Alex tricked Candice into flying back to Cambridge for another event and pretended they were meeting a friend at Upstairs on the Square, their first date spot.  Suddenly, Alex was on one knee and the bartenders were pouring champagne!

A mix of spring greens, soft blush and creamy white florals made this day glorious. The bride’s bouquet was a mix of garden roses, hydrangea and freesia while the guest tables included some ranunculus, sweet pea and peonies, almost every brides dream flower line-up?! Right!

Enchanting Real Wedding for B+N

October 28, 2015

“Incorporating special elements from both mine and my husband’s cultures and sharing that with all our family and guests was one of the most important moments that made the day so special.” The Chinese and Jewish cultures that represented B+N truly shaped the day. This was the first time many of their guests were able to experience and see traditions from both cultures. The design was fun, modern and elegant. The A. Dominick Events team did an amazing job playing with the gorgeous palette of dark blue, rose gold and light pink.

Favorite DW Detail….

“My husband and his friends have a quirky tradition where they wear temporary tattoos at weddings and parties.  usually they are cartoon characters typically found in party stores.  for our wedding, Neal’s cousin (a graphic designer) drew a custom design with our faces that we produced into temporary tattoos for all the guests to wear at the after party!”

“The Chinese “double happiness” symbol on the invitation, the Jefferson memorial icon on the reply envelope, boxwood & candle wall, string quartet playing specially selected processional and recessional music, reading of “I Like You” by Sandol Stoddard during the ceremony, and the personalized temporary tattoos were just a few things that made our day memorable.”
