Elegant Wedding at Decatur

January 11, 2017

The couple always wanted an elegant, yet effortless and enjoyable wedding and a celebration that represented who they are as a couple. Event planner Sara Franklin shared with us: “Meghan and Mark are a super fun couple! Their interactions are very captivating, you can see the love between them with just a look. Their first dance was really wonderful and Mark’s speech to Meghan was a hoot!”
The bride’s family loves to dance at weddings so the band was a very important factor for the couple. Mark wanted a very “classic D.C.” venue with classic details that would match the gorgeous flowers designed by Duran Designs. The final result was a simple, classic and elegant day.

Natural and Warm Winery Wedding

November 23, 2016

Nothing could ruin this couple’s perfect and unforgettable wedding day…not even rain! The couple had planned for a rain backup plan all along, but as soon as their bridal party started to arrive the rain stopped and they moved the ceremony to the veranda. “Guests created a human aisle for us to walk down, allowing us to get some great facetime in. Then, guests converged onto the veranda, creating a close, casual, and warm ceremony despite the unseasonably cold temperature outside” shared the bride. It was such a personal and intimate way to incorporate their family and friends into the celebration. Fresh flowers, pops of color, and twinkly lights were all incorporated into the decor and feel of the wedding. The reception had a very natural and effortless, yet inviting beauty to it.

The bride’s favorite moment was just before the ceremony with her bridesmaids, “The four of them had taken the letters of my name to create a story of our friendship. Each part unique to us with funny moments and some tough times we were there for each other. It was such a special moment to be reminded of how fantastic each of these women are and a reminder of their friendship and support.”

“It’s tough to narrow down all the special moments” said the groom, “but seeing everyone coming down the aisle through the stable doors was amazing. All the most important people in my life at one time, with the most beautiful bride in the world following behind.”

Rustic Spring Wedding at Springfield Manor

November 16, 2016

On a beautiful spring day the bride and groom tied the knot with the Catoctin mountain as a backdrop for the ceremony. The couple’s first trip together was to Longwood Gardens where they stayed at a bed and breakfast enjoying delicious food and exploring the area. Months later, the groom took her back and popped the question.

“I knew that I wanted a neutral color palette for a Spring wedding”, shared the bride. “I’ve always loved light pinks, grey, and gold and loved how well they all coordinate together. The venue inspired our overall ‘theme’. I loved the vintage look and feel of the venue, and how it almost felt European, with the lavender fields and rustic vibe. We used the lavender field as inspiration for our escort cards, had mini French macarons for favors, and incorporated lots of local wines in our bar. I was going for a simple, elegant look. Nothing overly dramatic, but I wanted to include little details that our guests would remember and that would elevate the overall look and feel of the wedding.”
Everything from the bouquets, to the flowers down the aisle, had pops of light spring colors. The bridesmaids wore mismatched dresses in neutrals blush and grey which were perfectly complemented by their colorful bouquets. All of the wedding stationery was designed by the bride’s good friend and bridesmaid with beautiful calligraphy, floral liners, and blush ribbon. The bride’s gown was designed by Matthew Christopher– a strapless design with floral lace and swiss dots all over.
“Our favorite memory was just being surrounded by all of our friends and family the entire evening, singing, dancing and laughing the night away. We also loved hearing all of the kind words our loved ones had to say about our relationship and us. Our Maid of Honor and Best Man had two of the greatest speeches in wedding history!”

Elegant Wedding at The Westin Georgetown

September 21, 2016

The story behind this soft and elegant wedding is the reason we keep falling in love with weddings. The bride and groom, both avid travelers, met in the Netherlands and lived there for the first five years of their relationship. Needless to say, incorporating an international theme throughout the reception gave the wedding a very personal touch. Their passion for traveling is something that connected them since the very beginning. Reception tables were named after cities the couple had visited and the food and cocktails were also inspired by this– Dutch Bitterballen were passed around during cocktail hour as hors d’oeuvres.
“Our wedding was special for so many reasons. Our wedding was the first time we had both of our families and our closest friends from around the world together in one room. After we exchanged our vows, we took a moment to look around the room at all of the people that had traveled near and far to celebrate with us on our day, it was just an unbelievable feeling. If I had to choose just one moment, I’d have to say it was the father-daughter dance. My dad has advanced Alzheimer’s disease and up until that day, we weren’t sure whether he was going to be able to attend, walk me down the aisle, and much less participate in a father-daughter dance. When the moment came, my dad didn’t want to get on the dance floor, the crowd was overwhelming and he wouldn’t budge. After a few moments, I walked down to where he was sitting and we did the dance right there. He slowly swayed back and forth as I sang to him and held his hand. It’s a moment I will remember for the rest of my life”.

When asked to describe the wedding in one word the bride said “love” and we couldn’t agree more!
