Josh and Rachele’s Winter Art Gallery Wedding

May 25, 2016

You are in for a real treat, todays Real Wedding is boutique, detailed and just lovely! Today, we are letting you hear it from the designers themselves, Sweet Root Village… did we mention that the bride is on the amazing creative team?!

“Rachele has worked for us at Sweet Root Village for two years now and not only is she a bundle of light, energy, and humor in the studio during the day-to-day, but she’s also an amazing friend to us and we’ve had the pleasure of watching her relationship with Josh from the very beginning! Josh involved us in his proposal and we got to plan Rach a rocking bridal shower. We were beyond honored to help her pull together an amazing look for her wedding as well as capture the amazing day with her closest friends and family!”

“Rachele and Josh selected an awesome venue in the heart of their hometown of Warren, Pennsylvania. This was the second wedding to ever take place at the Crary Art Gallery and it was a dream! Rachele and Josh put together so many personal details for their day. Josh is a graphic designer and took care of designing the invitations suite, menu, and other paper goods! Rachele painted the escort display canvas and crafted heaps of details like the cocktail stir sticks for the guests at the bar as well as leather and velvet tassels securing a bundle of honey stick at each place setting. The couple surprised their bridal party with curated gifts and Rachele’s maid of honor, her sister, received a rocking oversized raw crystal ring she found on Etsy! Rachele was immensely in love with ghost chairs and a lot of details for the rest of the day ended up matching perfectly. We included crystal candalabras, lots of clear glass candle elements, crystal cake cutting tools, the acrylic signage, and glass roof of the ceremony space!”

“For flowers, we got to pack the tables with wintery blush blooms and drape the ceremony space in vines. The greens felt almost as if they were already growing in the space! We used the same vines to accent a lot of other areas like the escort display, bar, and cake bar cart. Rachele wanted a very neutral palette for her wedding but had her heart set on one super bomb blast of bold red in her bouquet! We packed it full of every one of our favorite red flowers, including: amaryllis, garden roses, peonies, orchids, ranunculus, cosmos, tulips, and more! It was a dream to design and one massively heavy armful of goodness. We worked with lots of ferns elements throughout the day in all the centerpieces, the cake, and in the bridesmaid bouquets!”

“Josh and Rachele’s ceremony was one of the most emotional events we’ve had the opportunity to photograph. We were crying and laughing and singing and smiling so hard throughout the entire time! Josh was an emotional mess as Rachele walked down the aisle. Heck, we were all an emotional mess! There was plenty of fun and high fives and a shower of red roses petals over their first kiss as husband and wife!”

Rachele’s Favorite Memory from the day: Our first look! Josh looked so handsome and we were so excited to see each other and we really enjoyed spending time together before the guests arrived.

Joshua’s Favorite Memory from the day: After the ceremony was finished, we (Rachele and I) snuck away into our reception room where we enjoyed our first few minutes as a married couple. We were so happy that all we could do was hug each other while crying joyful tears.

 Advice to planning Brides:

Invest in a wedding coordinator even if it’s just for the day of the wedding! There is no better feeling on your wedding day knowing that there is someone keeping everything on track and taking care of the various problems that inevitably arise on a wedding day!

College Sweethearts – The Real Wedding of J + W

May 6, 2015

Georgetown University sweethearts, Jane and Watson, planned an elegant black-tie wedding at the ornate Anderson House. The 50-room mansion is full of intricate marble floors and gilded papier-mâché ceilings. Inside a venue so elaborate the couple chose to keep the decor minimal, sticking with simple elegance: white flowers and delicate tea lights.

The ceremony was held at Georgetown University’s intimate Dahlgren Chapel where most of their wedding party was made up of friends from their college days in D.C.

This fun loving couple was brought together seeing the world through traveling, both separate and together! Their honeymoon was no exception – where after their wedding they hopped on a plane to Russia and the Maldives! Jane and Watson’s night was the true definition of a timeless and classic wedding here in the heart of D.C!

Love, Laughter and Tradition- Real Wedding of R + S

April 1, 2015

Something old, something new and something borrowed…

Can you guess what it was?

The day was kept simple and was filled with memorable traditional elements from the stunningly floral arrangements to appetising food from Blue Duck Tavern, that something borrowed, and  something old, was something extremely new to Suzanne, as she wore her mothers wedding dress while saying “I-Do” to her new beau, Rick. A simple theme of black and white was the perfect understatement for this elaborate celebration and the endless dance party! Love and Laughter was at the center of the day, to mark and celebrate the importance of the special occasion and we have a feeling, it was everything they could have envisioned!

An ultimate DW FAVORITE: The Bride wore two dresses; one of which was her mother’s wedding gown!

Sleek and Simple Traditions- S + R’s Real Wedding

December 3, 2014

Stephanie and Roman had a fabulous wedding at the Corcoran Gallery of Art, full of wonderful details like Stephanie’s sparkly shoes and an amazing violinist at the reception. We love burgundy dresses and the vibrant Philippa Tarrant bouquets.

DW is crazy about Stephanie’s “something old,” which was extra meaningful. Her mother made a jacket and garter belt out of her’s and her mother’s wedding dresses. The bride incorporated her Jewish tradition, while the groom highlighted his Russian background; the two cultures combined perfectly for a very joyous occasion!

Thankfully, the remarkable Jennifer Dominick of Love Life Images was there to captured every moment.

Two Looks, One Night – Real Wedding of A + C

September 10, 2014

Today’s real wedding is nothing short of perfection. “Two looks, one night” is the best way to explain this unique wedding. The ceremony took place in the Hay-Adams Room which has rich woodwork, period ceiling details and gives off a very masculine feel. The room’s natural feel was counterbalanced by the white and creams that were brought in to soften and provide a romantic look.

Kicking everything off, the reception was fun and festive! They wanted the Top of The Hay to truly stand out and showcase itself. They went with an overall, white color scheme, but weren’t afraid to use that *pop* of color in the details, which is a DW personal favorite. After all, we know it’s about the details.

Wedding favors were Georgetown Cupcake treats [a local DC + family favorite]. The bride also made custom photo booth props and a guestbook made of vintage postcards from all the guests’ hometown, states and favorite places [wow, we love this!].

A few of their favorite things…

Bride says: “Other than the obvious favorites – the groom; it’s hard to choose one thing because all of our vendors nailed it. From the amazing music to the lovely decor, I was thrilled to see how much everything aligned with what we were hoping for and envisioning. No doubt thanks to our talented planner, Amanda! I am also partial to a good photo booth, as indicated by the fact that I photo bombed 50% of the sessions.”

Groom Says: “My lovely bride, Ashley, and the Pietasters as a distant, but magnificent second!”
