Julie and Jon’s Real Wedding

May 24, 2017

“The anticipation leading up to seeing Jonathan at the end of the aisle, and then finally seeing him, was wonderful. I think we were both smiling so widely as I walked down the aisle.  Aside from the ceremony itself, one of my favorite moments that I’ll always cherish was when Jonathan and I ducked away during our cocktail hour at the Women’s Museum  and took in a bird’s eye of view the scene below — the feeling of having every single one of our friends and family in one place and enjoying each other’s company was completely overwhelming in a really touching way.”

I wore several things on my wedding day that were so very meaningful. First, Jonathan’s three brothers and his dad gave me a special gift at our rehearsal dinner.  It is a silver cuff bracelet that is worn by each member of the family in memory of Jonathan’s mom, Karen, who passed away in 2002.  The cuff, which bears Karen’s initials on the inside, is a touching way to honor her memory, and signifies the unity and closeness of the family. Fall in love with this romantic soirée.

Real Wedding of Zach and Kelly!

May 3, 2017

Zach and Kelly were introduced through Zach’s cousin, Beth. Beth and Kelly are both third-grade teachers and knew one another from school. Beth had an inkling that Kelly and Zach would hit it off- and she was right! Kelly and Zach officially met at a Nationals vs. Cardinals baseball game. Zach is from St. Louis and is a huge Cardinals fan! Shockingly, Zach was more interested in Kelly that night than his beloved St. Louis Cardinals. Zach got Kelly’s number, invited her to dinner, and their relationship blossomed from that point.

Zach and Kelly dated for a little over two years when they decided to summer in Italy. They explored Florence, Rome, Milan, and Venice, enjoying incredible food, wine, art, architecture and enormously unhealthy amounts of gelato. Zach planned to pop the question while in beautiful and romantic Venice. He organized a romantic gondola ride at sunset, followed by a delicious dinner at one of the best restaurants in town. Zach intended to propose right after dinner in St. Mark’s Square, but a sudden downpour prevented this. Kelly and Zach waited out the storm in a nearby bar for a few hours. When the storm finally passed, Zach and Kelly decided to walk around St. Mark’s Square, now tourist-free as the night grew later and later. Right around midnight, Zach got down on one knee in the middle of St. Mark’s Square to ask Kelly to be his wife. Kelly said yes!

Kelly and Zach wanted a classic wedding day that was not only a celebration of their love, but also a celebration of their amazing friends and family. Photographs of Zach with his late father graced each table to honor his memory. The wedding was a blast- guests literally ran to the dance floor the moment the first dance song came on, and there was not an empty spot on the dance floor the rest of the night! Zach and Kelly departed the next afternoon for a honeymoon in Thailand and Cambodia.

Kelly and Zach wanted a timeless and classic DC wedding. They knew immediately that they wanted to get married in Washington, DC, the city where they fell in love. They love the city’s dynamic energy, beautiful greenery, and stunning architecture. As a history buff, Kelly dreamed of wedding photographs at the Jefferson Memorial in the Nation’s Capital.

Traditional Country Club Wedding – Real Wedding of Sara + Skip

April 5, 2017

Sara and Skip’s first date was to a Michael Buble concert at the Verizon Center, after being introduced through a mutual friend who was actually one of Sara’s bridesmaids. Months later, Skip surprised her with an engagement celebration over 4th of July weekend. Just like their first months together, their wedding was also remarkable. Skip’s favorite moment of the night was seeing Sara walk down the aisle with a big smile on her face. Sara’s favorite moment was dancing to”Stand by Me” with her Dad.
The wedding colors were lilac and gold and the wedding decor incorporated the bride and groom’s personalities: romantic, classic, modern, and fun. On the day of the rehearsal, Sara enjoyed taking her bridesmaids to Yoga and then Color Bar to make and design their own earrings to wear with the bridesmaids dresses they had all picked out. It was incredible to see how their different earring designs matched their fun and unique personalities. Although the couple contemplated a destination wedding, they were happy to have decided on Congressional Country Club because it is a meaningful place to them in which they will continue to create and share special memories as a married couple.
