Inn at Perry Cabin Rehearsal Dinner of Kathryn and Ryan

March 16, 2016

Kathryn & Ryan wanted a dinner that would highlight the region and the groom’s love of the water.  The setting and the menu both reflected that.  The wedding was inspired by the knot garden on property, and we wanted the dinner to feel cohesive, but more fresh with crisp whites and greens featuring herbs and ferns. After the rehearsal dinner on the Miles View Terrace, all the guests were invited to a welcome party held a few steps away in the Croquet Lawn, where they were greeted with herbal cocktails and  lawn games. The bar menu featured a Lemonade and Sweet Tea Bar with “Pick your own” herbal garnish, Croquet Lawn setting, preppy Summer garden party.  The Inn at Perry Cabin by Belmond is renowned for its manicured gardens  “and guests mingled and danced into the early hours amongst the colorful flower beds.

Showered with Petals – Real Wedding of Amanda and Dave

March 9, 2016

As floral chandeliers suspended over dance floor and mismatched yet coordinating furniture clusters surrounded the room, guests ooed and awed over the gorgeous design and the amazing details of this elegant soirée. Amanda walked down the aisle to, “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri, which was also the song that was playing when Dave proposed! The guests were so excited to put the petal bar to use outside the ceremony church. The newlyweds were showered with petals upon their exit after their nuptials. “Dave knew I wanted to have the reception at Congressional Country Club like my parents did in 1976, so he arranged it before he even proposed!” she says. This wedding was everything and some more! From details to design to the ultimate guest list, these two said I DO in the perfect fashion!

The Power of Pantone

January 27, 2016

Inspired by Disney’s live version of the classic fairy tale “Cinderella” as well as the dreamy Pantone 2016 color of the year combination, we wanted to create a look that felt romantic, feminine, a bit whimsical, and completely timeless.  This team designed everything around the Pantone colors of Rose Quartz and Serenity,  silver, and that classic “Cinderella” blue that we all know and love, which created the most beautiful contrast against the stony grays of Airlie’s Spanish steps. They the chose silver accented place settings and candelabras that paired perfectly with the dainty paper goods designed by Twila & Co. Cakes in Art created a stunning dessert table featuring a duo of cakes and French macaroons, and the flowers designed by Succulents & Saffron brought in just the right amount of whimsy to really bring this a fairy tale to life!! Enlightened Styles crafted the perfect makeup for our gorgeous bride, who looked like a true princess in the gown provided by Ava Laurenne Bride. Every single detail of this magical day was captured by Stephanie Messick Photography.

Old-World Romance – Real Wedding of L + H

July 21, 2015

Lia and Hudson’s wedding was classic, elegant, and Victorian, just like Lia wanted it to be! The wedding’s venue, The Andres Mellon Auditorium, was perfect for the occasion, as its traditional charm allowed Lia and Hudson’s romance to be showcased in a beautiful and pristine way. Both the ceremony and reception were in this venue.

The sheer white drapes that decorated the ceremony created a romantic feeling as the bride and groom said, “I do.” Lia’s wedding dress was the perfect fit for the old-world feel of the event, as its details were precise and eye-capturing. After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktails as they viewed the Washington Monument from the upstairs terrace of the venue. Lia and Hudson’s signature cocktail was “La Vie En Rose”.

At the reception, the groom toasted to his bride and introduced the a capella group “The Generics” from his alma mater, the University of Maryland. Dinner was a scrumptious six-course meal, catered by Federal City. Everything about the wedding was Victorian, from the gold-edged menus to the memorabilia that the couple had their guests write notes on for them.

The Gerard Carelli Orchestra played and the guests began to dance the night away! On the way out, guests were offered cigars served on silver trays and crystal Tiffany bowls wrapped in the groom’s tartan ribbon and tied with Jordan almonds. Each guest received a personal note as well, which was an intimate touch.

Lia and Hudson exited the wedding in true classic fashion – they took a vintage car tour around the monuments at night!
