Inn at Perry Cabin Rehearsal Dinner of Kathryn and Ryan

March 16, 2016

Kathryn & Ryan wanted a dinner that would highlight the region and the groom’s love of the water.  The setting and the menu both reflected that.  The wedding was inspired by the knot garden on property, and we wanted the dinner to feel cohesive, but more fresh with crisp whites and greens featuring herbs and ferns. After the rehearsal dinner on the Miles View Terrace, all the guests were invited to a welcome party held a few steps away in the Croquet Lawn, where they were greeted with herbal cocktails and  lawn games. The bar menu featured a Lemonade and Sweet Tea Bar with “Pick your own” herbal garnish, Croquet Lawn setting, preppy Summer garden party.  The Inn at Perry Cabin by Belmond is renowned for its manicured gardens  “and guests mingled and danced into the early hours amongst the colorful flower beds.

Showered with Petals – Real Wedding of Amanda and Dave

March 9, 2016

As floral chandeliers suspended over dance floor and mismatched yet coordinating furniture clusters surrounded the room, guests ooed and awed over the gorgeous design and the amazing details of this elegant soirée. Amanda walked down the aisle to, “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri, which was also the song that was playing when Dave proposed! The guests were so excited to put the petal bar to use outside the ceremony church. The newlyweds were showered with petals upon their exit after their nuptials. “Dave knew I wanted to have the reception at Congressional Country Club like my parents did in 1976, so he arranged it before he even proposed!” she says. This wedding was everything and some more! From details to design to the ultimate guest list, these two said I DO in the perfect fashion!

Stirin’ It Up (Fall Style!)

October 22, 2015

Today we are Stirin’ it up with Stir Bartending Co. We hope you love them as much as we do!

There’s a reason Pumpkin Spice Lattes are your guests’ favorite fall guilty pleasure. The classic food pairings of the season are tried-and-true delicious. But when it comes to cocktails to serve at your reception, autumnal flavors provide even more variety. Start with our favorite fall base spirits, such as apple brandy, spiced rum, and gin. Then, think of the bounty of your local farmer’s market and match fruits such as apples and pears with baking spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. Those flavors can be enhanced in cocktails by using them in syrups, in modifying liquors such as allspice dram, or even by infusing base spirits with the flavors themselves.

Play with a few of our favorite flavor combinations, such as:

  • Lemon, ginger, and honey: mix with gin, bourbon, or spiced rum.
  • Apple, caramel, and pecan: mix with bourbon, rye, or aged rum.
  • Pumpkin, allspice, and maple: mix with apple brandy, mezcal, or whisky.

You’ll find more examples of recipes on Stir Bartending Co.’s blog page.

For a unique end to the evening, why not follow your reception dinner with a cocktail marrying scotch and coffee? These two are natural partners, as the roasted aroma of coffee plays with the smoke and peat in scotch to create fullness and depth. This after-dinner drink could be served hot or cold, and sweetened with other flavors such as cinnamon and cherry for a lovely autumnal finish. By following the natural pairings of fall flavors, you’ll create a memorable cocktail experience for your celebration.

A MidSummer’s Night Dream – Real Wedding of D + D

January 21, 2015

250 family and friends gathered to celebrate true love on this crisp, spring day! Denise and Devin tied the knot at the beautiful Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in late May.

The bride said: “Although I know I am biased, since almost every bride believes her wedding to be unique and perfect, I found ours to stand out because of how personal it was. I married Devin as he wore his Marine Corps dress blues, and danced our first song as he wore his civilian tuxedo. His exit out of the Marine Corps after 11 years as a fighter pilot took place only a month and a half after our wedding.”

During cocktail hour, they brought their Paris engagement to life by incorporating Parisian details such as: French martinis that were passed to the tunes of Bon Musique, a French jazz band. The couple and amazing design team brought the outdoors in by creating a “Midsummer’s Night Dream” ambiance.

“Our families, friends, and wedding team exceeded our expectations in every way to make our wedding one of the greatest days of our lives, one that we will never forget.” – Denise

A DW Favorite was the gospel choir from the ceremony…The bride says it is still a talking point and memory for them!

Brew Bar

October 6, 2014

Dearest Grooms,

It is finally your chance to throw the bash of the year. Why not do something interesting and introduce a signature bar. Take your guests to your backyard picnics or tailgate days where you have a variety of brews chilling in the cooler. Create a signature beer bar where lagers, pilsners, IPA’s, wheat beers, and ales all meet together to toast to you and your special day!
