Instead of a classic linen on it’s own, I love the idea of using placemats as a fresh detail. Whether for a bridal luncheon, rehearsal dinner or wedding reception, a unique place setting can add innovative style to your event!

Happy, sunny Friday! Last weekend I was home and saw lovely sunflowers blooming in my mom’s garden – what a fun summer wedding detail!

Whether to play tribute to a certain era that you love from the past, to include family heirlooms, or simply watch your pennies, vintage just may be the perfect motif for your wedding!
There are several vintage themes from which to choose – and if you follow wedding trends, you have most likely seen one of these “vintage looks” recently. Here at District Weddings, I love “eclectic vintage” (think plenty of flea-market finds and mismatched vintage furniture, accessories, and décor), “glamorous vintage” (think 1920s with vintage cocktails and elbow-length gloves), or “heirloom vintage” (using true, meaningful vintage finds from the attic of your own home).
For eclectic vintage, I adore using mismatched antique chairs for seating, old jars or glass bottles for flowers, a bird cage on display, or maybe even a vintage scarf for decoration…

Ashley from the Chic Line has pulled these incredible images of dessert buffets – and I have to admit, I am still not tired of these tasty, stylish displays….
Dessert buffet have been so popular over the last few years. Amy Atlas is probably the best known stylist of these fantastic displays, where she leaves nothing overlooked. Below are some beautiful images that can be used for inspiration. Whether you have a caterer or planner put together such a tablescape, or you do it yourself with grocery store and flea market finds, you can create a fun and interactive display for your guests!

Julia has been sharing her fabulous ideas with us for months – and today’s post just might be my favorite yet! With her wedding just a few weeks away, Julia opens up about her decor inspiration…
What would I like my guests to remember about our wedding? Besides that we are completely in love, have great family and friends and have a bright future ahead of us? The WOW factors; otherwise known as the things that make guests say “wow.” I think each couple has their own set of wows – for some it is the flowers, for some it is the music. For me, the ultimate “wow” had to be at the reception. I want guests to walk in and be in awe.
The first important detail to my wow factor is lighting. I know a lot of people do not have room in their budget for lighting, but I think this is the one element that can make a room achieve a certain ambiance. You can make it warm and bright or romantic with lots of shadowed areas.
The picture below (from Kate Parker Weddings) is very similar to what I have envisioned. The blue LED up-lighting will give that huge pop of color against the other grays, whites and blacks in the room.
