Donovan House

November 14, 2012

If you are looking for the luxury and service of a hotel, but could do without the stuffy environment, Donovan House is the place for you. Jaclyn Randolph of Kimpton hotels describes  Kimpton’s Donovan House as a four-star boutique hotel that is a significant departure from the traditionally “buttoned-up” DC hotel experience. The hotel features a retro-mod design with a European flair, and a sleek modern color palette featuring hues of olive green, burgundy, lavender and beige.

Donovan House is a great choice for couples who want to throw a small wedding with a decidedly modern vibe. Kimpton will attend to every detail with their signature warmth and care, including the ceremony, rehearsal dinner, reception, post-wedding brunch or any of the other events hosted in celebration of the special day in one of their many lively spaces.

The Woodward and Bernstein Rooms are versatile spaces that can be made smaller for more intimate receptions and dinners of up to 40 or up to 80 guests for a standing reception. The room can also host up to 70 for a seated ceremony. With large windows on both sides of the space, light streams beautifully through the space in the daytime and shows off the glimmer of city lights in the evening. The room’s beige walls and light grey carpet are neutral enough to mesh perfectly with any couple’s wedding color scheme.

The Donovan House rooftop easily has one of the best views in the District making it a memorable location for an outdoor ceremony or reception. The rooftop overlooks Thomas Circle and bustling 14th Street, and can accommodate a standing reception of up to 100 guests during warmer months. The rooftop can even hold up to 30 guests for an elegant open-air seated ceremony. Sweeping views of the city below make this an unforgettable space for a night of dancing and drinking in celebration.

In addition to Woodward, Bernstein and the rooftop, Donovan House offers private event space in its acclaimed restaurant, Zentan. The pan-Asian inspired restaurant features space for up to 45 people for a seated banquet or up to 50 guests for a cocktail reception.

All weddings at Donovan House are catered by the hotel’s acclaimed restaurant, Zentan, a pan-Asian inspired eatery with a menu designed by Zentan’s culinary team. The menu features signature dishes such as Singapore Slaw, Cantonese Skirt Steak, and several sushi and sashimi selections. To know that guests are getting a delicious meal instead of standard banquet fare is a huge plus. The main dining room is also available at times, accommodating up to 60 people for seated events, and up to 100 people for a reception.
