Dream Wedding at the Ronald Reagan Building

Van Ngo and Eric Oberly just may be the cutest couple I’ve ever seen.  After a long-distance romance during Eric’s tour in Iraq, he proposed, she said yes.  On a whim, they entered the Celebrity-Inspired Dream Wedding giveaway, hosted by USWeekly and The WeddingChannel.com.

Well, they won!

In June, they learned the news and the whirlwind planning began.  The wedding date was set for Sunday, September 27, 2009.  The first order of business?  To secure The Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center as the venue for their Dream Wedding.

Ronald Reagan Building Executive Chef Xavier DeShayes worked with the couple to design a menu that incorporated some of their favorites, and drew inspiration from Ngo’s Vietnamese heritage.  A carving station featured the groom’s special request -Mini Pork Tenderloin Sandwiches and a signature drink, The Trackarita.

Oh, how I love the Pavilion at the Ronald Reagan Building.  You can see why it is one of D.C.’s most beautiful and most sought-after venues in our area.

A little more about the contest…

The WeddingChannel.com and Us Weekly Dream Wedding contest was conducted online during the month of May, with engaged couples throughout the country vying for a celebrity-style wedding planned entirely by WeddingChannel.com, profiled in the pages of Us Weekly and televised nationally with the contest’s exclusive TV partner, Inside Edition, the nation’s top-rated syndicated newsmagazine.

Out of thousands of couples who entered, 10 finalists were selected and unveiled by WeddingChannel.com and Us Weekly on June 5, with public voting through June 18.  Then, on June 25, Ngo and Oberly were announced as this year’s winners.
