Washington D.C.’s Eastern Market has long been a Capitol Hill neighborhood staple. The 19th century brick building, located on 7th Street in Southeast D.C., is a cultural destination for tourists from around the world. The Eastern Market is D.C.’s oldest continually operated fresh food public market and is on the National Register of Historic Places. In addition to its status as a major tourist attraction, Eastern Market has served as a venue for receptions, fundraisers, community events, and of course, weddings!
Both ceremonies and receptions can be held in the Eastern Market’s newly renovated North Hall. This historical gem boasts 3,500 square feet of event space complete with vaulted ceilings, dramatic arched windows, state-of-the-art lighting and a beautiful hardwood movable dance floor.
Events at The Eastern Market leave plenty of room for creativity and allow you to add your own personal touches, as the market does not work exclusively with certain vendors. Barry Margeson, Market Manager, told us that people like the idea of being married at Eastern Market because in addition to being a fantastic, unique space in a great spot on Capitol Hill, the market is often an important part of their life together!

The DC Government never finished the build-out of Eastern Market’s North Hall. It is a shell, so the acoustics are abysmal, and completely unsuitable for music.
I love Eastern Market – how exciting that you can use the North Hall for weddings! One of my favorite spots on Capitol Hill!
