Choosing a makeup look for your wedding can be tricky.  It has to last from the time you get ready through the last dance and look great in pictures and in person. Fortunately for you D.C. based brides, Carola Myers, the extremely talented makeup artist, shares her advice on what works best for the big day.

What advice do you have for brides when choosing a makeup look for the big day?

I usually advise brides to choose a look that makes them feel special and beautiful.  Once they have an idea for their wedding day look, I can customize that look to best match their facial features.  I also discuss and provide recommendations based on other factors such as the time of year, location, time of the wedding, and wedding theme or style.  All these should be considered when determining the bridal makeup look.

Decatur House Earth Day Wedding

This past spring, the DC Green Wedding Consortium gave away a dream, eco-friendly wedding to one lucky couple, Kevin and Virdina on Earth Day.

I absolutely adore the classic black and white decor, the polished attire, and the beautiful courtyard ceremony at the Decatur House.

Thanks to The Observatory and Documentary Associates and Elegance & Simplicity Wedding & Event Designers, Inc. for sharing the images!

W Hotel Wedding

As if June could not get any hotter, today’s wedding heats things up even more! Lauren Moore and Mark Roche-Garland’s  fabulous nuptials included one of the best venues in town and tons of romantic details. L-O-V-E it. Lucky for us, Jennifer Cody of egomedia photography has captured it all!

The adorable couple met at her birthday party in 2007 and Lauren sweetly admits that it still is the best birthday present she has ever received. After an amazing time at the party, the two were soon inseparable, and a year later Lauren moved to England with Mark — followed six months later by a marriage proposal in a candle-filled apartment. She said yes and before they knew it, they were saying “I do” at Annunciation Catholic Church and atop the glittering W Hotel overlooking their old city and sharing a first kiss, dance, and sunset as a married couple.

Real Wedding by the DC Green Wedding Consortium

On January 31, 2009 the Washington DC Green Wedding Consortium announced the winner of a $50,000 green wedding giveaway.  The DC Green Wedding Consortium is comprised of local vendors who make the extra effort to be as eco-friendly as possible.

Dana and David, the VERY lucky winners of this fabulous giveaway, were married on Earth Day, April 22, at the Stephen Decatur House Museum.  Here are a few of the photos from their special day, generously donated by the members of the DC Green Wedding Consortium…

How cute is that pedi-cab?  I love it!  During the inauguration madness, I took a pedi-cab from downtown to Georgetown.  Despite the slight chill in the air (the “driver” gave me a sleeping bag to stay warm), I had a very fun time.   I wish we had more pedi-cabs in D.C…  They make for picture-perfect transportation for the bride & groom!

Oh, and I am totally swooning over this wedding cake by Debbie Delardi of Cakes by Design.

Congratulations, Dana & David!
