Although we are in the middle of a beautiful spring day, I know that many of you are planning fall and winter weddings. Since it is often difficult to put yourself in the mindset of a season, I thought I’d help you out a bit with photos from a beautiful winter affair…
Last December, Samantha and Steve were married at the gorgeous Decatur House on Lafayette Square. Arioth Harrison, the Director of Special Events, clued us in to their wedding, and was kind enough to share all of the details. The incredibly talented Lynne Brubaker captured the day from start to finish in her amazing photojournalistic style. And the details of the event were the incredible work of Allison Jackson of Pineapple Productions. Take a look…
Check out this gorgeous church… Oh, I love it! It is the Holy Rosary Church on Third Street, NW.
Off to the reception at the Decatur House…
There is both an indoor space and an outdoor space at the Decatur House. The outdoor space is always tented for weddings. The two spaces together make a wonderful flow for cocktails to dinner to dancing. For Samantha and Steve’s wedding, Allison planned cocktails indoors, dinner in the tent outside (which, by the way, remains very cozy and comfortable despite the winter temperatures), and dancing back indoors.
From Allison…
“We included some fun details like Limoncello Cosmos as a signature cocktail, and a fabulous made to order espresso drink bar with peppermint white chocolate mocha and hot chocolate in custom to go coffee cups. We also handed out Krispy Kremes in custom packaging as guests departed.”
Um…yum!! A Made-to-Order Expresso Bar? That is definitely an idea worth stealing. Love the Krispy Kreme favors, too!

On January 31, 2009 the Washington DC Green Wedding Consortium announced the winner of a $50,000 green wedding giveaway. The DC Green Wedding Consortium is comprised of local vendors who make the extra effort to be as eco-friendly as possible.
Dana and David, the VERY lucky winners of this fabulous giveaway, were married on Earth Day, April 22, at the Stephen Decatur House Museum. Here are a few of the photos from their special day, generously donated by the members of the DC Green Wedding Consortium…
The wedding was captured by a duo of fabulous photographers — Jennifer Domenick of Love Life Images, and Tom Van Veen of Documentary Associates.
How cute is that pedi-cab? I love it! During the inauguration madness, I took a pedi-cab from downtown to Georgetown. Despite the slight chill in the air (the “driver” gave me a sleeping bag to stay warm), I had a very fun time. I wish we had more pedi-cabs in D.C… They make for picture-perfect transportation for the bride & groom!
Oh, and I am totally swooning over this wedding cake by Debbie Delardi of Cakes by Design.
Congratulations, Dana & David!
