Colorful Congressional Country Club Wedding

I know I left you all this past Friday with such excitedment for autumn, but yikes, where did this cold rain come from that we have outside?!?!  Well, no worries because today’s wedding will warm you right up!

Stephanie Van Dyke and Dan Bowen were married at St. Rita Parish in Alexandria, VA with their reception at the Congressional Country Club in Bethesda.  Not only are they an adorable couple, the wedding is so cheery!  Thank you to incredibly talented Paul Morse for sharing the wedding with us!  Enjoy!!

Stephanie and Dan took advantage of the uniqueness of the D.C. area by stopping between the wedding and the reception at the Lincoln Memorial for pictures with their wedding party.  Paul Morse captured some great moments, and got a huge kick out of the tourists who were all snapping pictures of them, too.  You will also see their adorable wedding favors later in the post – white chocolate monuments – Jefferson, Lincoln, Washington, and the Capitol – made by a chocolate boutique in Georgetown.

W Hotel Valentine’s Day Wedding

Nikki and Tom were married at the fabulous W Hotel on Valentine’s Day. The romantic white, black and red palette made for such glamorous decor and the W Hotel’s modern take on the classic building makes it fun, funky and absolutely one of the best venues in D.C.!

Nikki and Tom were absolutely thrilled with their W experience – it was everything they could have hoped for on their big day. Nikki says that they visited the W when it was under construction but saw their vision and knew that it would be a “fun, funky, classy place” to exchange their ‘I Dos.’ The selling point was of course the gorgeous view from the rooftop – it literally overlooks the White House! The couple also loved the hotel’s phenomenal wedding suite, the amazingly attentive staff, and the delicious food and drinks.

Their proposal story is any romantic girl’s dream — when Nikki was visiting Tom in Paris (yes, Paris!), as soon as she stepped off the plane to meet him, he greeted her with a hug, a kiss… and a proposal! He later explained he wanted the first words she heard from him in the most romantic city in the world to be “Will you marry me?” Of course, she said “Yes!”

The couple carried their incredibly sweet theme to their wedding – you can’t get much more romantic than getting married on Valentine’s Day!

Red roses, the symbol of Valentine’s Day, floated in glass vases everywhere you looked, along with white roses, lilies, and a fun, bright red flower in Nikki’s hair.  We heart Multiflor!

The couple was lucky to miss the snow storm of 2010! Fortunately, the day of the wedding was snow-free and perfect – though Nikki admits the week leading up to it was nerve-wracking with back-to-back blizzards just days before.

An additional benefit to having your wedding on Valentines Day? Nikki jokes, “Now Tom will never have an excuse for forgetting our anniversary!”

A Conversation with Nick Perez of Multiflor

The best floral arrangements are those that surprise and delight you.  I love looking at an arrangement and thinking, “How unique!” instead of simply “How pretty!”. This is exactly the reaction you will get with Multiflor- they are contemporary and so interesting, yet simple at the same time. Hear more from Nick, Multiflor’s Owner and Lead Designer…

How would you best describe your overall floral style at Multiflor?

Personally, my taste runs very minimalist. I trend towards clean lines and architectural elements but there are times I prefer to see a more natural, highly textured look that has organic qualities.

Chesapeake Bay Wedding by egomedia photography

Jennifer and Randy were married on October 24th, 2009 in the middle of a torrential downpour as friends, family, and their very cute Havanese dog, Milly, looked on.  The extremely personal ceremony took place at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s Philip Merrill Center, performed by well-known animator Kit Laybourn.  The flowers were impeccable, by Multiflor (a District Favorite!)

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a six-course gourmet meal, prepared by Design Cuisine.  Dancing and conversation followed as everyone enjoyed the amazing music performed by Aria Hendricks and her band.

I especially love how clear it is that Jennifer and Randy pored over the details of their event and used their unique skill set (her BA in Film at Bard College and an MFA in Film & Television from New York University and his MFA in Film & Television from New York University)  to create a vision for their eclectic, woodsy wedding style which was executed with perfection by their team of wedding professionals.

The mixing and matching of china is fabulous!

In particular, the green elements were extremely important to Jennifer and Randy — guests were transported to and from CBF via shuttle, carbon offsets were purchased for the wedding and guests’ transportation, invitations were letter-pressed (a greener form of printing), all printed materials and packaging utilized recycled paper, there was minimal use of flowers (and use of flowers in season and local) and the food was organic and local wherever possible.

Congrats to Jennifer and Randy!

Real Wedding: Julia and Chris at the W Hotel

Ever since the new W Hotel opened, I have been looking to share a wedding from this fabulous venue.  Today, I am thrilled to have an incredible wedding by Wedding Photographer Moshe Zusman.

Julia and Chris are so lovely, the ceremony is so classic, the reception is so hip — all the perfect ingredients for a fabulous affair.
