Putting the Spirit in Spirits

December 4, 2015

Our friends over at Stir DC, share some insightful ideas on how to impress your guest without a full bar budget!

While serving your guests with a full bar can seem ideal, it can definitely rock your budget! Sometimes this can be the most stressful element of planning a reception. No one wants their guests to feel restricted, and it’s a sensitive topic. But don’t despair. There are plenty of ways to keep the quality in your crafted cocktails without going bankrupt. Here are four of our favorite solutions:

  • A full bar may seem like the only way to give your guests options, but consider this approach: set the bar with two or three main spirits, paired with a range of shrubs and infused sweeteners, and add knowledgeable craft cocktail bartenders. This can give your guests countless offerings tailored to their exact tastes, without having to stock unnecessary multiple spirits.
  • Serve one or two punches. Ladled out of a beautiful punch bowl, with a stylish garnish, punch is a perfect way to serve a beautiful cocktail at high volume and low cost. It’s a lovely look for a vintage wedding reception.
  • Bottle your signature cocktail. Not only does this minimize the need for bartender service, it makes for a striking reception gift and can be personalized with your own label as a charming keepsake.
  • Dare to pair your cocktails with the meal. Aperitif cocktails prep the palette, and digestif cocktails settle the stomach after dinner. By choosing a perfect pairing for your dinner service, your guests will feel like they are enjoying a trendy tasting menu. Very chic!
