Union Market Engagment Session - District Weddings

Union Market Engagment Session

May 8, 2017

Today, Lisa Blume is here with us to share this fun engagment session and her thought process behind picking the perfect location for an engagement shoot!

A former client and close friend of mine talked me into trying out a FlyBarre class with her. I was hesitant but was truly motivated by the high energy teacher and playfulness so early in the morning. Fast forward 1.5 years and I’m photographing that same Flybarre instructor’s wedding! How fun is that?!? Marisa and Chris got married this April at Malmaison, in Georgetown!

When photographing in Washington, DC many of my clients lean towards the classic and timeless options such as Georgetown roll homes and parks, Lincoln Memorial among other monuments, the Capitol building, etc. Marisa and Chris had other plans in mind. They are both fairly casual people and wanted to make sure their portrait session was true to who they are. They love the street art on the backside of Union Market and that general area, so we had a great time exploring the Union Market area.

Many of the murals were created by Los Angeles-based French street artist Mr. Brainwash, who had been commissioned by The Girls Lounge to do a mural on the theme of women education.
