On a perfect October day last year, Lauren and Jerry exchanged vows under a canopy of green leaves and atop a carpet of pale peach petals at Whitehall Manor.
I must admit that this wedding really caught my eye as the surprising color combination is elegant yet bold…SO pretty! Holly Heider Chapple Flowers did such a lovely job with the florals and decor while the deep green satin ribbons were carried through from baskets of programs to the four-tiered cake to the flower girls’ adorable white dresses.
Lauren told us about the proposal, which sounds beyond romantic!
“My husband Jerry surprised me with a proposal on a balcony in Cinque Terre, Italy, at sunset. We’d been enjoying an amazing three-week vacation after taking the bar exam, and were at our last stop on a multi-country European tour. Unbeknownst to me, my future husband had carried an engagement ring through fifteen European cities, waiting for the perfect moment to propose. On our second to last day abroad, while I dressed for dinner, he went to every florist in Manarola trying to find fresh flowers for the big moment. Every shop was closed. Not to be defeated, he instead purchased five beautiful floral postcards, wrote wonderful inscriptions on each one, and tied them with curling ribbon. When I stepped out onto our hotel room balcony to see if he was ready to leave, I found him sitting quietly, sun setting at his back over the gorgeous ocean, with a bottle of champagne on the patio table and a beautiful bouquet of floral postcards in his hand. As I read the cards, he descended to one knee, and when I looked up, he was holding the most beautiful ring I’ve ever seen. I said yes. The day I married my husband was absolutely the happiest day of my life, and thanks to Paul Morse‘s incredible photography I can revisit every beautiful detail. Thanks very much for the opportunity to share it with the world!”

Hi Lauren–
You look really familiar– I think I had some English classes with you at UVA. Congrats on your beautiful wedding. Where did you get those bridesmaids dresses, and what color are they? Teal? I LOVE them.
Best,
Laura
Hi Laura – Great to hear from you! The bridesmaid dresses were from ‘Dessy After Six’ (we found them online – I believe the wesbite will direct you to local stores that carry the style). I think the color was ‘emerald’.
Best,
Lauren
